Whilst most swimmers are enjoying some time off this summer, 6 of our F-Teamers have been working hard to make a splash on the glabla stage at the World University Games in Taipei, China.

After his first year studying Sport at Hallam University, Joe Litchfield (@joelitch98) took on some of the best medley swimmers in the world. Joe stamped his mark in the men's 200m individual medley, finishing in a cracking time with a new PB of 1:59.36, securing a bronze medal and achieving the Team England Commonwealth Games consideration time for the Gold Coast next April. Joe also competed in the 400m individual medley where he finished 10th, just missing out on a final spot and also competed in the men's 100m butterfly.

Debuting at the World University Games, Irish boy Brendan Hyland (@brenhyland94) finished 13th in the men's 200m butterfly in a time of 1:59.26 - slightly faster than his time at the World Championships last month. Brendan swam a huge fly leg in the 4x100m medley relay, where Team Ireland finished in 8th place. He also stepped up to race the men's 100m butterfly, narrowly missing out on the semi-final in 19th place.

Massey University student George Schroder (@georgeschr0der) from New Zealand was just shy of PBs in both the men's 100m and 200m breaststroke events. Despite this, George qualified for the semi-final in the 200m breaststroke where he finished a valiant 14th.

F-Teamer Michael Gunning (@michaelgunning1) headed to Taipei fresh from the World Championships, representing the University of East London and Team Jamaica. Michael stated it wasn't the meet he had hoped for, however he had some solid swims in the 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly.

One of the busiest F-Teamers was Alexander Kunert (@kunibert96) from Germany who raced in five events across the 6 days. His best performance came from the most popular of swims for our F-Teamers at the meet in the men's 200m butterfly. He finished 10th a time of 1:58.11. He also swam in the 50m and 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle, and the men's 4x100m medley relay posting times extremely close to all of his personal bests.

South African swimmer Clayton Jimmie (@clayjimmie), although not making it through the heats equalled his personal best in the men's 50m backstroke with a 26.78 He also competed in the men's 100m freestyle however his best performance came in the 4x100m freestyle relay where Clayton split a 50.64 on the third leg to provide a strong finish to Team SA to finish 8th.
